My clients are important to me

From my experience I have found that busy people running business and events want more from a marketing Company than a report which stays in the desk drawer. In smaller organisations there is rarely someone who can devote their time to be an active marketer; our clients require an expert who can multi-task and do the whole job.

Marketing-U goes one-step further and delivers the marketing activities by providing experience, skills, knowledge and hands-on support. In every business, on a daily or weekly basis, there is need to be ahead of the market by constantly pushing products and services in front of the customer and this is where we fit in.

Many of my clients say that it is the friendly approach to the job they appreciate the most. Business owners have realised that not only themselves, but also their staff learn a great deal from us and when the project is finished they are all inspired and capable of adopting a more active marketing role.

Here is a sample from our client portfolio and some of their comments.

Rawcliffe House Farm Holiday Cottages - www.rawcliffehousefarm.co.uk

Duncan & Jan Allsopp required an entirely new image for their business of six holiday cottages and B&B near Pickering. Starting from scratch with a blank piece of paper was a necessary, but daunting prospect. Lynne was inspired by the colours of the North York Moors landscape and the many pheasants wandering around the cottages and developed a brand on a fictitious pheasant character affectionately named Freddie.

Freddie became part of the logo and the pheasant feather is synonymous with Rawcliffe House Farm. Many photographic images were taken and incorporated into designs for brochures, flyers, printed envelopes, business cards, post cards, road sign, polo shirts, website and Christmas cards. Please view their website to see their new branding. The holiday guests like the new image and business is now booming for Duncan and Jan.

“Lynne provided us with a one to one friendly, personal service, so she really got to know what we wanted and how we wanted it doing. The immediate and direct contact over the phone was very good for the exchange of ideas and helped us to progress quickly and efficiently with the project. Her sole management of everything provided us with a very professional service, and we are continuing to use her expertise for marketing her business.” Jan and Duncan Allsopp

The Plough Inn at Wigglesworth - www.ploughinn.info

Steve and Sue Amphlett of The Plough Inn at Wigglesworth already had a website which required a complete rethink. Their Inn sign was their logo, which they wanted to retain. Marketing-U compiled a marketing strategy which involved taking new images of the property, writing the text and designing the look and content of the new website. We also promoted a new Gourmet Sausage menu around a sausage character called ‘Sizzle’, designed a mail shot postcard, advertisements, newsletter and an e-mail direct mail shot to a database of existing clients. The new, fresh and modern website has increased the residential trade by 100%.

“Lynne has designed a very good website for us and assisted in developing an effective marketing strategy. She took time to understand our business in depth and it shows in the product she produced. We recommend her highly.” Steve and Sue Amphlett.

Dogs for Life Holidays

Philippa Williams, owner of Dogs for Life Holidays needed a flyer to give out at shows and a brochure for holiday enquiries. She already had a logo and website so we brought a new, fresh look to the flyers. Dogs For Life joined with another of our clients and we helped to organise a successful Open Day, promoting the event through press coverage, posters, flyers and photography on the day. We have also designed adverts for various Dog magazines and for Cruft’s Dog Show, keeping the same style and brand throughout.

WorcNet - Women Networking in Yorkshire - www.worcnet.co.uk

WorcNet is a networking initiative, managed through Craven College, which supports over 200 women living within Yorkshire who are exploring ways of becoming economically active.  Members are supported into training, employment, business start up and business development.  A personal development theme underpins the initiative.

The brief for this project was to undergo a re-branding exercise. It was felt that the present image was out of date and no longer represented the women of today. Marketing-U underwent research into what the organisation meant to the membership and how they saw it progressing in the future.

We liaised with Craven College and WorcNet staff and through a consultative process have arrived at a concept which is flexible enough to be used for the many facets of the organisation.

We then designed a new logo, which is part of the concept. It has been unanimously praised by members and management alike.

Please see the new WorcNet website and view the logo and branding I designed for WorcNet, which has been 100% successfully received by both the management and members. Here are a few words from Debi Hawkins, WorcNet manager, on how the project has developed so far.

“ Lynne, just to say how pleased we were with the services you gave to WorcNet regarding the re-branding of the project. We were particularly impressed with the way you helped us to conduct the research with the team and the members, taking into consideration the feedback before we began the exercise and your advice and guidance has been invaluable.

Your friendly approachable manner, together with your professional service makes it a pleasure to work with you and we never have any hesitation in recommending you to colleagues and WorcNet members alike.” Debi Hawkins, WorcNet Project Manager.

Brocklands Woodland Burial - www.brocklands.co.uk

Chris and Julia Weston of Rathmell own the Brocklands Woodland Burial ground and they already had a good website but an outdated leaflet. Marketing-U consulted with them, researched what image they wanted to portray considering the delicacy of their business and together we arrived at the perfect balance of a respectful, but informative brochure. Following through the same concept we also designed a new business card. We used our own images of natural objects to bring texture to the leaflet.

“We were looking for a completely new image for our woodland burial site leaflets: Lynne was able to show us many other examples and to provide some excellent photographic images to enhance ours. She was able to suggest designs and styles, and yet also accept our preferences on occasion. She was professional and friendly to work with.” Julia and Chris Weston

Layhead Farm Cottages - www.layhead.co.uk

Layhead Farm Cottages is owned by Mrs Rosemary Hyslop and consists of a group of 6 stone holiday cottages near Settle. Marketing-U designed and content manages the website on a weekly basis. We are also contracted to design and provide content for all promotional literature, advertising, promotional events, internal processes and general marketing advice.

Recently the business has expanded its markets by facilitating groups, which has brought revenue from out of season sales.

2005 saw the first wedding being held at the cottages in a marquee and the guests booked all the cottages for the whole weekend. In 2003 and 2004 we marketed Open Days, which publicised the cottages and facilities to the local market; this has generated bookings for family gatherings.

The new website is the most valuable piece of marketing we have undertaken for Layhead Farm cottages as it attracts high visitor activity from regular viewers. Marketing-U has provided all of the photographic images of the properties, events and activities, surrounding landscape and ‘Walks from Layhead’. We are very proud of the involvement we have with the business and its’ continuing success.

“Lynne has worked with me for 3 years on the marketing of Layhead Farm Cottages. Lynne has considerable expertise in the small business arena, and I have always found her to be efficient, full of good ideas, and very professional in everything that she undertakes.” Rosemary Hyslop

I-nova Networks – Howsons Ltd - www.i-nova.co.uk

I-nova Networks is part of Howsons Limited, based in Ingleton, is a Company providing wireless and security systems for the holiday park and tourism industry. Matthew and Janice Howson required, at short notice, promotional literature and material for a presentation to the holiday Park owners.

Marketing-U researched and sourced appropriate images, designed and printed a brochure and provided material for a Power Point presentation. We have since designed a roller banner to be displayed in the park owner’s reception areas.

We have sourced all the photographic and text material for I-nova website and advised on the content and design. Working in partnership with Net Address we have produced a website original in style, which is very different to others within the same market sector. Although I-nova is a company providing a technical service we have created a website that is easy to understand and contains actual images taken from within the customer's environment showing the benefits of the service.

“Many thanks for a super job at very short notice; we really do appreciate all your efforts. We will be in touch before long regarding phase 2.” Janice Howson
